The Craigmaddie and Mugdock reservoirs in Milngavie are two reservoirs which store drinking water supplying 700,000 customers in Greater Glasgow. As well as being a vital source of water, the site is also an important local beauty spot and recreational facility The site which has historical, recreational and environmental significance attracts around 160,000 visitors per year.
Based on the operational aspects of the reservoir and the visitor attraction elements, various investment projects are regularly being carried out across the site. With any of these projects, Scottish Water will ensure to effectively communicate with the community aiming to keep any disruption for visitors and local residents to a minimum.

What happened so far?
In 2020, We sought the public’s views on two of our much-loved and well-visited beauty spots in the Milngavie area of East Dunbartonshire; Craigmaddie and Mugdock reservoirs.
The consultation, which was launched online, encouraged people with an interest in these two Scottish Water assets to give their views and help inform future plans for investment. More than 1,000 people took part in this consultation and you can find out more below in the 'consultations document' section of this web page.
Following on from this consultation, regular investment has taken place across Milngavie Reservoirs with improvements being made to the site operations and visitor experience.
A ranger service has been introduced at the site, with a defibrillator and a Scottish Water Top Up Tap also being installed with further enhancements to come.
