St Ninians Park, Prestwick
Here at Scottish Water, we are committed to working with communities and councils to reduce the risk of flooding and improve the environment. We have launched an online survey to gather Prestwick residents’ views on proposed measures to help improve rainwater management in and around St Ninians Park.
While proposals are at an early stage, together with South Ayrshire Council, we hope to tackle flooding in the area by harnessing nature.
The idea is to manage rainwater at – or close to – ground level reducing the need for large below-ground pipes. Proposed measures include rain gardens, trees and permeable paving. These measures can help reduce the volume of rain water entering into the sewer system and provide an opportunity to help to increase biodiversity, making the area more attractive and supporting nature.
