Investigations

Traffic on Albion Road in Edinburgh is currently reduced to a single lane

We are investigating the collapse of a manhole on Albion Road in Edinburgh.

Following extensive surveys of the local sewer network, we can confirm that Scottish Water’s infrastructure remains fully operational, despite the collapse at the manhole.

More intrusive investigations into the cause of the collapse are still progressing. We will continue to provide regular updates until we can confirm a completion timeframe for the repairs.

However, following our investigations to date, we can now reduce the full road closure on Albion Road to a single lane. This measure continues to be necessary to maintain safety for both the public and our on-site teams.

We appreciate this emergency work will be causing some disruption to the local community, and we thank you for your patience and understanding as our teams continue to work diligently to resolve this complex issue.

During Hibernian FC's home games we will continue to have two members of staff present on site before, during, and after the match to support safe pedestrian access and public safety. We have also been in contact with Hibernian FC and City of Edinburgh Council to ensure they are kept informed.

To note, there is a roofing contractor with a yellow cabin on the same street out with our work location, opposite the entrance to Harrismith Place. This cabin is nothing to do with Scottish Water.
