Banchory Waste Water Treatment Works
Banchory WWTW
Work is now complete on the £4.5m project, with construction work finishing in September 2023.
What did we do?
Scottish Water invested £4.5m to upgrade the Waste Water Treatment Works (WWTW) serving Banchory. Alliance partner ESD carried out the work, with the upgrade work commencing in early 2020 and completion in September 2023.
What did the work involve?
This project saw a complete refurbishment of the existing works, with old treatment tanks being demolished and replaced, as well as some of the mechanical and electrical equipment at the site being upgraded or replaced, to provide a larger capacity at the site.
All work took place within the existing footprint of the site, which is well screened, and we did our best to keep any disruption to the wider community during construction to a minimum.
Why did we do this work?
The completed project means the new WWTW will be able to continue meeting the needs of the growing community over the years ahead while protecting the environment.
