Loch Katrine Aqueduct
Project Overview
This multi-million-pound project aims to upgrade key sections of the historic Loch Katrine Aqueduct, a vital piece of infrastructure built during the Victorian era.
The aqueduct supplies over 1.3 million residents across Greater Glasgow and the central belt with water.
Work on the New Aqueduct is scheduled to take place from September to December 2024. Following this, repairs on the Old Aqueduct are set to begin in January 2025 and are expected to be completed by March.

Loch Katrine Aqueduct
What We Are Doing
The Katrine Aqueducts are a vital part of our water supply network, responsible for delivering raw water to treatment facilities. To keep them in good condition, we need to conduct inspections and carry out any necessary repairs.
This project covers both the Old and New Aqueducts, along with associated structures like bridges and chambers.
There may be increased traffic on nearby access roads as work vehicles move in and out. We’re committed to keeping any disruption to a minimum.
Why We Are Doing It
As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining essential infrastructure, we will be carrying out inspections and repairs on the Katrine Aqueducts to ensure they remain safe and reliable.
